I am so sorry that I haven’t blogged in a while. Trust me; it’s been really REALLY busy here.
In the past weeks, I’ve pretty much spent my life in the Late Show, making friends, meeting people, and working my tush off. As most of you know, it’s been a little crazy out here after everything that has gone down with Letterman and Palin. Personally, I’m trying my best just to keep my mind on work and making sure that I do a great job, rather than getting involved with the issues. It’s really hard to do it that way, but that’s about the only way right now.
Anyways, we have had some really fun people on promoting movies and new music….it’s fun working in late night television. And I’m starting to get used to the rush of the industry – that might bite me in the end, but I really think that I like the pace of this life. My mom said that it really takes a special type of person to be able to stick in the industry – and I think that I might just be that breed.
Moving on, my two friends Kyle and Dan and I went out last Friday to roam around the South Street Sea Port, MoMA, and then dinner and drinks. I think that we are now planning on every Friday making a field trip to some place new in the city…I will keep you posted on our excursions.
Thanks for all yours prayers and phone calls. The only thing that I don’t like about NYC is that you all are not here with me. Keep me posted on all your lives!!
Love, Audrey

Dark Week
This was my first Dark Week experience. A Dark Week – in TCOM terms – just means that the show goes on hiatus for a week and I’m out of work. So I set a goal for myself to find a second job. Living here isn’t cheap –y’all!
So over the holiday weekend, I took some time and went around to different stores to apply – and after writing so much that I got a blister on my finger – I decided to spend the weekend having some fun.
Thursday night I went out with some of my Page friends to a bar called Barcelona – we all bought food at the store next door and the bar tenders don’t care if we eat there - which is new for me – so we just hung out there and talked about Page life and what New Pages Kyle, Dan and Audrey should expect. It’s relaly nice getting to know everyone and seeing them outside of work. But I headed home kind of early (9-ish) and got to sleep. Friday, I took some time scouting out Brooklyn for other potential places to work and then when my friend Christine got back to the apartment, we went to dinner and spent some time in front of the TV. Saturday was beautiful, so we took the Subway to the South Street Sea Port and hung around there, shopping and taking in some sun. Then we walked to Wall Street and to an outdoor market. It was so beautiful in the City and I loved just being able to walk around and soak up some unexpected sun. We headed home and watched a movie, but had to get up early Sunday to have brunch with my friend Mandy Jo and her roommates. We went into the City – and had an amazing time at this little Italian CafĂ© called La Giara. Had an amazing time there bonding with the girls and left around 2pm to go do some more window shopping and have fun.
Monday morning Christine and I got up early again – but this time we booked out in the car and drove to the furniture heaven – IKEA. It was amazing. I want every home that I live in to be furnished with their stuff. From the towels to the couches – everything is amazing. Then, we came back to Brooklyn and saw the new Night at the Museum movie. It was just okay – not as good as the first one – and I had a crying kid behind me the whole time – so that kinda stunk. But then we came back and I called the fam for a little while and then had a peaceful night’s sleep – no mice these days.
Yesterday was a tad on the boring side – but today I had an interview with a clothing store (so we shall see how that goes) and then I went out with my friend Dan to see the new Star Trek movie – which was amazing – I suggest that everyone sees it – even if you weren’t a fan – you can still enjoy it.
So far – So good :)
Miss you all!

"Public Property"
Yesterday was my first full day of actual Page work - now as interesting as THAT sounds – it was better.
I began my day going in early to finish up my tour (with the two other Pages that I started with) and watch the CBS Sexual Harassment video (and sadly it wasn’t from the 80’s). On our tour around the theater – my fellow Pages and I were able to go in while Green Day was rehearsing – which was awesome.
Then I was assigned my tasks for the rest of the day:
1. Answering questions over and over again.
2. Telling people that they can’t go to the bathroom.
3. And genuine chattering among the crowd.
One gentleman was doing something with his camera, and technically one is not allowed to record the speech that every Page has to give at some moment - well - I told the guy to not film it and in his own accent from somewhere he basically yelled at me and told me that it was "Public Property and he could film where ever he wanted" - hence the title of my Blog Entry :)
I then helped line a ton of people up and helped with the fueling of energy for the first show. Then I moved on to my next duty where I help guard the bathrooms and about 10 min. into that…Dave Letterman walks right by me and says hello – which was nice.
Then, I help out with the audience for the second show. (We do two shows on Monday – Monday evening’s show and then Fridays show we tape early) So I worked with the audience some more and then I got to go in for the last bit and watch Ricky Gervais’ interview (The original Michael Scott from the British Office) and then Green Day’s performance.
As tried as I was yesterday (and still today), I am so glad that this is my job. It’s really fun, the people are awesome, and I get the see a nationally known television show every single day. It’s really fun!
Miss you all!!

Day 1: Complete
Yesterday was my first official day of work. I was kind of nervous throughout most of the morning because, well, I was beginning my first day of work in New York City.
Being here over Spring Break really helped my knowledge of the Subway - so I took to R all the way through Brooklyn and up to Times Square. I got off around 42nd Street because I hadn't gotten to see the City yet and I felt like it would be a good time to do so (I still had a half an hour to kill). So, I began walking around the GREATEST city in the world - looking at the tall buildings, moving people, scrolling marquees, vendors, business people and street performers. It was like one of those movie moments - you know? Only to be interrupted by the fact that my sandal got caught in a uneven part of the street and I bit it. Like collapsed and fell in the middle of 49th and Broadway. OF COURSE THAT WOULD HAPPEN!
So I popped up and kept moving, praying that the new Page I was starting with wasn't 3 feet behind me. Anyways, I made it to the Ed Sullivan Theater without tripping anymore...and got to go up without too much of a headache.
As I walked into the office - there were two new pages that greeted me (so yeah - last one to arrive). Dan and Kyle had both just been hired like me and were beginning the same week I was. So we talked about where we were all from and where we went to school...Jersey and Michigan for the two boys...and me BSU :)
Then we went back and filled out a ton of paper work...learned about everything that we as Pages have to do during the job - coffee break - and then we got a tour of the studio. It was actually being turned into the Survivor Finale so it didn't look anything like the actual theater - but it was still really cool to see that.
After we got done with the tour, we got to go back upstairs - get our official badges - and just as we were about to watch the the Late Show’s official Sexual Harassment video (from the 70's) we ran out of time.
Lucky for us, we get to come in early on Monday!!
Overall, it was a really good day and I'm really looking forward to working there!

Ball State Graduate
I found out on May 6th that I was going to be the newest Page at the Late Show with David Letterman. It was incredible. I had been praying for a while that God would bless me with a job that was right for me. I got a call for an interview a few weeks before, and was able to get out to NYC for it. Then, 4 days later, I was offered the job.
I couldn't believe it. Having this be such a hard economic time, I wasn't even sure if I would be able to get a job here in Noblesville...let alone...a PAYING job some where out of state! But it worked out. I have a wonderful friend that is letting me stay with her while I get my feet wet out there - and I have a paying job...at a network...
I graduated last Saturday...I'm moving this Thursday...and I am so excited. It's moving really fast...but that's what this industry does to you...it pushes you...and I like that.
